For applicants who have clarification questions or want extra assurance, combining GreenCardHero with a lawyer consultation or review is the wise way to go.
For a lawyer recommendation, you may consider lawyer Ben Huang. Ben is not associated with GreenCardHero. Our referral to him is solely based on merits. Ben speaks English and Chinese. He is based in Northern California but can take cases remotely.
Because the immigration law is a federal law (not a state law), it is OK to hire a lawyer that is not in your state. If you prefer to find a lawyer in your state, one place we recommend for finding a lawyer is American Immigration Lawyer Association’s Immigration Lawyer Search. If you enter your location, there will be a list of lawyers listed there.
Ben’s Consultation Service (For answering specific questions)
You can email or call Ben; tell him about your situation and ask for a consultation; then he can give you a quote of the consultation cost. Alternatively, you can schedule an initial consultation with him ($80 for a 20-minute consultation, $120 for a 40-minute consultation, and $160 for a 1-hour consultation). A 20-minute consultation is often sufficient for most types of questions.
Ben’s Application Review Service (For checking the entire application)
Ben reviews the whole application package for $500, about 2-2.5 hour normally (1 hour to review the forms and documents on his own, and another 1 to 1.5 hours to meet with the applicant and sponsor remotely or in person). If you have some questions to clarify, you can also ask him during the review. NOTE: Usually applicants choose to have both I-130 and I-485 packets reviewed together for $500, but you can also choose to have them reviewed separately for $350 each ($700 in total).
If you have time-sensitive questions that you want to ask before the final review, you can schedule a consultation with Ben first. The consultation fee rates are: $80 if less than 20 min, $120 if 21-40 min, $160 if 41-60 min. Ben will give a one-time consultation credit to the final review, if needed.
To our understanding, a consultation is more for specific questions, while a review is for an overall accuracy check. If you are not sure which service to choose, you can just call Ben and tell him what you need, and he will help you decide which service works the best.
